Hi!

I've been in the guinea pig community for years. Unfortunately my
heard is dwindling and I am selling my custom guinea pig cage.
We paid $800 for it custom made by a woodworker. Let me know if
you have an interest or would like to make an offer on it.

I live outside of Rochester NY. There are some freighting companies
that would ship it, or you can pick it up. I wanted to give the
online guinea pig community a first crack at this one. We put a lot
of thought into it's design, and it has been a great asset to us and
our pigs for about 5 years.

Feel free to pass the along to anyone you think may be interested.
Thank you,

This sites not a good fan of wooden cages or cages that are high! Sorry...

It looks like shelving with plastic bins inside. What are the inner dimensions of the bins?

The base actually has a plastic liner. That you take out to clean. Only the facade is the pretty wood. The guinea pig area is all plastic.

The plexi-glass does not allow the guinea pigs to get out, and is able to be cleaned very easily.

It has worked for our family for years, with no accidents.

Thank you for responding.

That's exactly what it is!! The liners are under the bed containers that are: 39" long by 19" deep. We had it designed to fit a plastic container so that it would be really easy to clean. The plexi-glass in the front is also washable.

What is the width?

Oh I forgot to talk about the height reason. When we had the built we were living in a small apartment with 6 gps. We were seriously running out of floor room, and had to go vertical. This is a great use of space for a small area. I'm short, only 5'3 and I do need a step ladder to get piggies out of the top level. Every time I clean cages I rotate them so they get a different view of the world, from bottom to top.

The liner (or piggie area is 19" deep, & 39" wide) The actual cage facade is 22" deep & 41" wide. The total height is: 80" from Crown molding to dental floor molding.

No... We just aren't fans of complete wooden cages, with wooden bases that are too small and cages with mulitple levels.

This is a stacked condo which looks close to a 2x3, about the same size as my stacked condo. This cage would be great for a rescue or foster home.

I'm sorry if I am not understanding your dimensions. To me deep and width are 2 different things. You said previously the length is 39". Are you also saying the width is 39"?

It's 39"x 19"

Huh? Its not a complete wooden cage and its not too small

Edit: Yes it is, just read the other thread

Many user on this forum do not have C&C cages. That's what I meant.
Her cage is perfectly fine and I personally see nothing wrong with it. It's a great cage for a rescue or foster home.

Yes, it's wooden. Many people have wooden cages here. Yes, it's high. Many people have stacked cages to save space.

Actually, not many people have wooden cages. Just the other day, I saw a pic of lampy's wooden cage and nobody liked it. The feedback was mostly negative.

Lets just drop it. Im not interested in and I don't think you are.

For one or two pigs in a rescue or foster home, it's not too small. According to C&C standards they are, but it would work for a rescue.

But not everyone can have C&C cages. That's what I'm saying. Wooden cages are perfectly acceptable, and yes, many people have them or have made them from utility shelving, not wood, but the same idea.

Why is it okay to have piggies in smaller cages if its a rescue or foster home.? Who is to say if they will ever be adopted out?

Pennick- I think she is just saying if it was temporary. If they were never adopted out, that's a different situation that would need a different solution.

You're going offtopic. If you're not interested in that cage, fine. No need to start a basic discussion all over again.

The only thing I would be worried about with this cage is the plexiglass walls. Do they get enough ventilation?

Stacked cages are actually great space savers. Many people choose to use the large utility shelves to make them, and I've seen quite a few pictures of them.

I believe what Katie meant was it was fine for a rescue because the home would be temporary(I think).

I think it's fine as long as the wood isn't cedar(dangerous oils) and ventilation is adequate.
