Curly Fry Crossed the Bridge

I attached a photo showing her being "sandwiched" by two of the guinea pigs that thought she was their mom. Wolfbane, on left, is still alive. She's a very timid guinea pig and would still hide behind Curly up until she passed. Truffles, on the right, was the one that has osteodystrophy and had to be euthanized. Curly would lick her all over to keep her clean, almost like a new mother cleans her pups. It was really touching.

This video brought me great comfort when I lost my rats a few years ago.
I'm sure Curly is running around the green fields by the rainbow bridge, surrounded again by all her long missed friends. We'll see them again in time.

I feel happy that Curly went peacefully but I still really miss her. She would make the funniest brrrrr sound when I'd bring out snacks. None of my others have done that so we all miss that.

I know what you feel. I had an amazing cat that suddenly crossed over almost a year ago. Now I have piggies and Meg (so far) will be the one I pine over when she goes. Loveable, curious, happy, is the first to come to me when I call.

She was a stunner, that's for sure. I know how awful it feels, but then you have to remember everything that she brought to you and your herd while she was here. She was a loving surrogate mama, a sweet little peacemaker, and her curly fur brought a smile to my face. While it is painful to let them go, we have to remember that they're happier where they are now. There is nothing setting her back; she can see, hear, and popcorn to her heart's content now. It is such a comforting thought, and I know that she's going to be comfortable, happy, and healthy up there. Best of wishes to you.

They're all so special and unique. Even my 'trouble makers' were little sweethearts. I think they struggled with their demons and just wanted to find their place and someone to love them for what they were. Those pangs of grief still sprout up once in awhile when I think of some that I lost years ago.....It's hard but worth it to have the chance to spend our life with them.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Truffles and Oreo were waiting for her. The attachment between her and Oreo and then Truffles when Oreo passed was like nothing I've ever seen before. Being a caretaker was her mission in life. As long as she had a guinea pig to take care of, she was happy. Thanks for your kind words...

Pinky, you are very welcome. Sometimes we all need a little bit of kindness from someone else to keep going during rough times. I hope that you find joy in your remaining piggies, and just try talking to them about her. Sure, they probably don't understand. But you'd be surprised by how comforting it is to talk to your pigs about something like this. When Griffin was sick and had to be seperated from his cagemate Toni, she was absolutely distraught. She tried to get to him, but I talked to her and it really helped me. My words, even though she didn't know their meaning, calmed her down with their tone.

Sometimes you have to find solace in those moments where you can't say anything at all. Just sitting there and reflecting on all of the happiness that a pig brought you is one of the most uplifting things that you can do.

I'm just happy to have found this site where there are others who feel the same way I do about guinea pigs. I can't imagine my life without these sweet little creatures..... My Wolfbane really misses Curly. She used to hide behind her and share a pigloo with her sometimes . Now she's been sleeping in front of the pigloo where Wishbone sleeps or she digs and gets under the fleece. Wolfbane even tried going in the pigloo with Wishbone but she kept nipping at her. It's hard to watch that.

Just the thought of it makes me smile..... I'll bet Curly's already passed your message along to Rocky. She's never met a guinea pig she didn't like so I'll bet they're already pals.

[MENTION=22012]geo13[/MENTION], thank you for your kind words. She was really special. I never heard to click her teeth or fight with any guinea pig. She'd let out a yelp if any of them ever nipped at her but she wouldn't fight. The funny thing was, my shy ones would run to her for protection. I think it was probably because she was pretty big with all that fur.

Pinky......I just keep thinking how much my baby girl, Maya, looks like Curly Fry. I can only hope that she will grow up to have the same character and sweet nature as Curly.

spy9doc, Maya is such a pretty girl. She reminds me of a cross between Curly and one of my other texels Pichu. I love Maya's pink nose and those cute lips. How can that adorable girl have anything but a sweet nature?
