Cuddling

Is it unusual for two male guinea pigs never to cuddle with each other? I have two male guinea pigs that have both just hit adolescence and seem to be going through dominance issues, but even before that they never really seemed to cuddle together. They'd play together, but slept in different hutches.

Also, any idea how long dominance issues usually take when they hit adolescence?

I read somewhere that you should have one more hutch than guinea pigs and I was wondering if adding another hutch would help them be more friendly. I was a little worried about taking up more running room though.

I don't think it's unusual. My pigs don't cuddle much together, they sleep in separate quarters. I just provide them with their own pigloos so they can have privacy and space from one another. No idea about the duration of dominance issues, though.. sorry.

It's possible that they never get over them. Generally, they do. They end puberty around 8 or 9 months.

My three girls NEVER cuddle together, ever!

My two girls always cuddle together. They sleep in the same pigloo and they sleep together in the same cuddle cup.

OK, let me backstep a bit, they don't cuddle at all anymore. When they were very tiny and newly purchased, they did. Now they don't. I wish they did.

My boys have only cuddled rarely, mostly when the vaccume was going or something. But can I ask a question, are you keeping your guinea pigs outside? just curious because you said hutch.

Nope, they're inside. Sorry, I just meant their wooden hiding places that I bought.

My girls never ever ever cuddle! They like their space and prefer to sleep alone. Now the boys ALWAYS cuddle! Strange..
