I noticed yesterday that my eleven week old piggy Charlie had some crust around his eye and wouldn't stop squinting it. I wiped the crust off with a damp cloth but the problem was still there today. I read online that you can use some polysporin antibiotic eye drops to help clear it up. I bought some tonight but now I'm just wondering how much of it I should use. I figure about one drop but I don't want to over do it.

He might have conjunctivitis which is contagious. I'd have him seen by a vet.

I'm in my residence right now and I don't have access to a vet immediately. I'm assuming it's just a scratch or poke he got from hay. I would just like to know if anyone knows the dosage of drops I should be giving him.

I recently had a guinea pig with a prolapsed eye lid. If it's a poke or if a piece of hay is under the lid, it can scratch the eye so it's important that the eye is checked and flushed. My vet used a sterile eye wash to thoroughly flush the eye after he checked it. My guinea pig was prescribed a steroid eye ointment for the prolapse. She didn't have an infection so she wasn't prescribed and antibiotic. You can post on guinealynx to see if anyone can tell you the proper dosage.
