I think you could make a lid out of coroplast instead of cubes. It would bassically be the same as the base but with a one-two inch lip and would still have plenty of ventilation, protect from animal paws, and would lift up for easy access to bedding and piggies. What do you think about that?

I think it's a good idea, but then what if another animal got up there? It would surely collapse. Unless the cage is a rather smaller size, I would go with the cubes or something. I just made a lid for a woman with cubes, and still had to put a cube in the cage to support it.

I thought about that it would only work if you are like me with only dogs since they dont like to sit on top of things or out of the cats reach.

Ah, yes, I think that would work if nothing went on top of it. But what about lighting? Wouldn't it be dark?

you could cut holes for lighting or if you use white coroplast at least for the top it could be less dark and the lid would only be there if you have to leave.

If you only have dogs, why are you making a lid? If it's on the floor, you should put it on a table or something. Also, the coroplast lid wouldn't be the best because the dogs could possibly get through it by banging into it and breaking it.... you never know, lol.

i wish i could put it on a table but I cant so I will just use cubes

Ok. You could also make a cube stand, make completely out of cubes. Good for storage too!

that will keep it off the floor so it wont feel as many floor vibrations

bye! THANKS!!!!!!

You could also use what I used...measure your cage top and go to Lowe's or someplace like that and ask for Linen Shelving and they will cut it to length...I have 5 pieces on top of mine and I connected them with cable ties so I have a lid the also swivels up on the ends and middle for easy access and lifts off in 2 pieces (I connected 3 pieces into 1 large piece) and the shelving comes with a lip on one end so it hangs over on each end with a lip for even better security and if your cat or animal gets on it it wont collapse like corroplast.

That is a good Idea!
