Is coriander safe for guinea pigs?

coriander

Hi. I wasn't sure what Coriander was, but I just looked it up online and it's another name for Cilantro. I give my pigs Cilantro all the time, but they love Parsley more! So yes, Coriander is fine.

I looked at my list, Coriander is fine for guinea pigs. I see someone else said it is the same thing as Cilantro. My girls adore Cilantro! Hmm, it is also called Chinese Parsley ...which I find interesting since cilantro, to me, brings to mind Mexican food.

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) Vit C per 100g (27) Calcium (67)

Actully it's not Cilantro leaves, but the seeds of Cilantro.

My girls have just discovered cilantro, and love it. My husband was picking some from our garden to make salsa and gave it to them. Now whenever we go to the garden we have to pick some for them. You are correct about coriander being the seeds and cilantro being the leaves. If you grow it, you let some of it go "to seed" (coriander) and it will grow again the next growing season without having to replant.

I double checked the list of veggies I have from Texas Rustlers Guinea Pig Rescue, coriander is on the list of safe things to eat...cilantro is listed in another section as being safe as well.

Ah, thanks. My mum absolutely loves coriander, so we always have tons of it at home. So can you feed the leaves and stalks??

I feed the leaves and stalks to all three of my girls. They love it!

Cilantro has to be my pigs absolute favorite food. I didn't think about growing it myself. I definitely need to do that. Although it's pretty cheap at the farmers market, I don't always get there every week and end up paying the grocery store high prices.
