How can I convince my mom to adopt a guinea pig? She thinks they won't get along beacuyse she asks the pet store people and they say it is impossible to get them to like each other if they are older then 5 months. Mine is 6 months.
I only have 1 guinea pig right now

Never listen to anything the pet store tells you. Print out or show her the social life article and photos of the cages. Most have multiple pigges coexisting happily.

Tell your mom that it is in your piggies best interests to get him/her a friend. If you work with a rescue they will most likely help you find a friend that will get along with your existing piggy.

What do you mean if i work with the rescue, like if i know them? or if i work there with them?

dag, i showed my mom the page but she hasn't read it.

Keep asking your mom, tell her that you will pay for everything if you can, show her all the pages but be persistant. That is how I adopted my second pig. Make sure you adopt and never listen to a petstore.

I wish i could tell her to never listen to the petstore..
She says that she is fine beacuse she gets so much attention from me

No matter how much attention she gets from you, she really needs another pig. It's vital to their health and happiness. Keep telling you mom this, and eventrocker said, tell her you will pay for everything (if possible). Eventually, she'll cave. Mine did. ^_^

But what happens if they don't like each other?
Do you think we could bring my GP to the rescue center and see if they like each other?

Tell your rescue your pigs personality. Most rescues will try to pair up the personality with another pig that would get along.

Tell your mother to picture this scenario:

She's trapped in a cage, and gets attention from this being that feeds her, gives her water, cuddles, ect. BUT she dosen't have another human companion, and never will UNLESS her owner gets her a companion. She'd be pretty lonely, even with that attention from her guardian, right? She'd thrive on human social interaction, right? It's just the same with guinea pigs. We're social, so are they.

So she wants another human companion? that what you said, do you mean a guinea pig companion?

She was saying that as though your mom was the guinea pig.

ohhhh I see :)

guineapiglvr14- you need to start posting properly. Meaning use capitalization and punctuation in all your posts not just some of them. You start off well but then you go downhill later on. Not posting properly may result in a week's ban from this site.

Most rescues will let you bring your guinea pig to the rescue and will help you to pair up your existing piggy with a friend. That's what i meant by work with a rescue.

I can adopt another guinea pig if I can obtain my chores for a month!

I don't think that they would let you bring your guinea pig to the rescue.. there is always a chance of something spreading.. But who knows.

I'd bring her to the vet first to make sure everything is o.k. beacuse she had lice about a month ago soo alittle mybe still in her but I don't know.
