Hopefully I will only be confused for a while. Dagwell and Chewie were fighting, not fighting but Chewie was relentlessy(sp?) following Dagwell around the cage mounting him and Dagwell would nip at him and run away(of course they pick one in the morning to start fighting). Half an hour later I took Chewie out of the cage and put him in the quarintine cage I haven't taken down yet. The three pigs left in the 4X5 are happy as can be, Dagwell even popcorned (a rare event for him)! They seem sooo happy. Now the bad news, Chewie is miserable he won't move, and runs away when I say his name(when he usually comes to me). I don't know what to do. I think it could be that their cage isn't as clean as it usually is.(I've been sick) but its only been two days since I last spot cleaned. So, what do I do, put Chewie back and make him happy and the other pigs sad or annoyed? Or leave him where he is and have him be miserable? I am thinking of making a cage attached to the big cage I have but I won't be able to do that for awhile.

Dagwell when I read your post. I got scared abit thinking that it was my nephew talking about it Chewie that he has and I reread again and relized that it was Dagwell and Chewie. You need a submissive piggie and it sounds like that Chewie and Dag are dominance piggie and they would do that. I had the same problem with 4 boys out of 7. So I rehomed the 4 boys. You can try again and see how it works, have them out on floor time more often and try to put them together in a cage. If not maybe you can make room just for chewie and another submissive young piggie. Good luck.

That was the same thing Coco did to Honey when they were solving dominice issues. MAybe that is what they are doing?

I agree with Poohbear. My sows have begun to do the same thing when they are in heat or just want to be dominant and one of them has a large cut on her nose to prove it. They are usually fine after about a day or two and they have since settled down on how agressive they do get. I am not sure if this is similar to what happens with boars.

It was almost like he was"in heat" he kept mounting everyone when I took him out he tried to mount my arm. EW. I seperated him out for a few hours and put him back in, now they seem better, but I'm keeping an eye on them.

Unless there's blood shed or serious fighting, I wouldn't even separate them. How old are they all again? Chances are Chewie simply decided that he wanted to be ruler of the roost and decided to challenge Dagwell. The longer and more times you have to separate them the more often they have to resort dominance. I would leave it for a few more days, but if it keeps going or there's serious fighting I would be concerned.

Actually the time out helped alot, the other pigs helped dagwell when chewie would get out of hand. now they are all curled up in diffrent corners.

Leave them all together and let them work it out on their own.
