Hey everyone, I went to PetCo the other day to see if anyone had dumped off a piggy. I looked around while I was there and noticed they were selling small bags of pink and purple Carefresh. I thought that was pretty cool. Too bad it is so expensive. Just thought I'd share. :)

What is it dyed with?

Are there not any guinea pigs in shelters in Florida? I'm just curious why you'd be looking for one to be dumped off at Petco ....

I have no idea what it is dyed with.

I went to PetCo before and they had to guinea pigs that were dumped there.
There are shelters in Florida with guinea pigs, but none that are close to me. As far as I know, none of our county's shelters has any.

I live in Brevard County, but I was interested in the same thing as you binas_cavys. It would be neat to get some of that bedding because I haven't seen anything like that in the PetCo near me.

Okay, thanks for the info. I've seen one other person with that colored bedding but they lived in a totally different state. I'll have to keep my eyes open for it.

I saw it in Virginia, in fact I have some. I'm planning to use it as confetti for adoption days and holidays.

It's a shame that you all would buy bedding at Petco, a chain that sells animals, just for some colorful bedding .....

First of all, I didn't buy any. The one person that did say he/she had it didn't say if it was from a pet shop or not. And second of all, for some of us it is very hard to buy everything we need from a place that does not sell animals. I try not to but I don't have the resources here.

I live in Texas and I saw that bedding tat petsmart and I wanted to buy it but I wasn't sure if it was safe so I didn't.
One more thing is that I saw carefresh and carefresh ultra, anyone know what the difference is?

I was about to ask if carefresh color bedding was ok to have as bedding because I just got it. So do you think I could use that bedding?
It says it is dyed in materials used in homes around the world for over 40 years, What ever that means!

Well, I would rather colourful bedding than that grey stuff that shows the poo and wee!

Yeah, whatever that means! Not everything used in the home is safe. Do you think maybe it would be on their website?

Well, I didn't know but a lot of companies have websites. So I "googled" it and came up with (broken link removed)

It doesn't have much information and doesn't mention the colorful carefresh.
There is an order form. You can get 6 10L bags for 29.94 and that includes shipping. However, the price list says effective of 09/09/02 so it might be outdated.

The description on various sites selling it says:
Your favorite pet bedding in eye-catching, non-toxic, colorfast hues.

Then down below that:
Contains no contaminants, added inks or dyes, or chemicals, so it's safe for your pets!
