Hi everyone,

Sorry for the continual questioning, but I have a single guinea pig and am hoping to transfer him into a 3 by 2 cage exceptionally soon. He is a little on the small side (7 ") so I think the cage match up will be about an 8.5 sqr. foot t him. Besides, the grids u'm using are all 14 inch so.... Anyway, the reason why I'm talking about air fresheners is that I am not allowed to put the cage in the guest room (the only place with enough room which is an 15 foot buy 15 foot room with bed!!!) because of the possibility of smells. I will be spot cleaning about twice a day and entirely cleaning the fleece entirely once a week- depending on smell, I want to know how to keep the smell from being noticed. Can i rub lemon on the urine spots, do you have any suggestions. also, i have a coffee packet in my bathroom to keep down smalls. it smellls like coffee in there. is it safe to keep a coffee packet in the pig room? I will be putting it close to the cage. thanks, that will be all. =D. Please answer quickly, i'd like to use this thread as proof. XD. Bye!

I have my own question before I answer yours.
Why is he a single piggy? Was he aggressive to other pigs? They do better in pairs, you know :)

Okay, now for yours...
I don't quite know what chemicals are in coffee, but I don't think it's harmful...
Just clean the cage often. That'll help. And wash things with vinegar, yes, or bleach and rinse SUPER well. I don't think rubbing lemon into urine will do well for the pigs...what would happen if the walked over the spot with lemon on it, then ended up licking their paws? It's far too acidic to be used straightup on the cage floor with nothing covering it.

Using fleece is tough to keep smelling nice I've heard... bpatters has stated it never goes 5-7 days without smelling. My disposable bedding is wonderful! This stuff is perfect... (broken link removed)
But if you love fleece, by all means, keep it! It's less expensive certainly.

Good luck! :)

Thanks! This really helps. You might have saved a piggy's life!

If you're close to Indiana, I have 2 females or 2 males available for adoption. They not necessarily bonded, just been living together since the babies were born...original owner thought Rasquette was a "Rascal" and put her with his boar. Well, she had babies. So Daddy has the son, Mama is with the two daughters. I'm looking to rehome Mama plus Fluffers (baby) and Daddy plus Stripers (baby). Then I want to get a different colored guinea pig for a roomie to my Flower. She's a Black n White Crested.

Unfortunately, I am nt close to India, am not at the moment able to adopt pigs. i wsh you the best of luck, however! P.S, you should probably go into the guinea pig adoption part of the forum. I'm sure you'd get a bigger response!
