I have treated both Rocky and Willis with Revolution every Wednesday for three weeks. Totally cleaned out their cage every week, and washed things down. They have never really acted like they had mites, but the lady at the rescue said that Rocky had them, so I treated them both.

Now I notice every time they scratch and worry. I assume that some scratching is normal (like what my dogs do). But, how much is too much? Would think that having been dosed every week for three weeks they would be clear, but just wondering what I should be looking for.

How often do they scratch?

My 3 guys are being treated for lice. I saw some scratching going on but did not think it was alot. During laptime we noticed around my Legela's ears he had what looked land small white peices of danderuf stuck to his fur. The danderuf did not flake off. You had to pull it off bewteen your fingers. I suppected lice so we did him to he vet and it was confirmed. She also checked for mites but he doesn't have those. All 3 guys are being treated for lice with Advantage. I have to treat for 2-3 months and keep their cage real clean.

My pig use to have mites the vet finally put him in a dip and he got all better!

We have covered the "dip" on another thread, it's very risky to put pigs through a dip and not recommended. I don't think revolution is real good on mites. Ivermectin is the best treatment for mites. If they are still scratching a lot every day then they may still have mites. Sometimes it takes more than three treatments to totally clear them up, depending on how bad they have mites. If you see the pigs scratch once or twice a day, it's probably normal scratching. If they are scratching much more than that, it's possible they still have mites or another parasite.

I just notice them scratch every once in a while. It is not a prolonged episode, or non-stop. Just did not know if they clean themselves like cats or if I am just over protective. Guess I will treat a few more times with the Revolution and if they don't totally stop will try the Ivermectin.
