Every time I walk away from this board I think of another question. Are the stems from cilantro good for the piggys? I've never even heard of cilantro until I started reading this board.

Yes, I feed them the leaves and stalks of cilantro

That is good to know. I introduce cilantro to Cali this morning but only the leaves. So next time I will leave the stems on.

What other vegetables are you introducing? Parsley and carrots are usually a firm favourite with all pigs

Mine won't eat the stems, but I give it to them anyways, in case they get hungry again during the night. The odd time they have eaten them.

Yeah, they prefer the leaves. They eat them first then if they get hungry they'll munch on the stems

haha, thats cute. My piggies tend to start at the STEM then work down to the leaves..haha, what little goobers. But yeah, parsley, cale, spinache(in moderation) lettuce, all those things are good for piggies.

My girls eat both the stems and leaves.

Parsley, carrots and spinach should be fed 2-3 times per week. Parsley and spinach have a lot of calcium in it, carrots have a lot of Vitamin A. Also spinach has oxalic acid. Feeding too much of these things can lead to problems with the pigs health down the road.

Mine like to start at the bottom, and suck the whole piece in like a spaghetti noodle, but Jane is 2 lbs 12 oz as of this morning, so she's not one to turn down food, and the other female that I just got a few weeks ago had babies a month before I got her, and has put on 3 oz a week since I've had her. But Jane, the ultra fat veggie gourmet, still prefers romaine and carrots to everything else.

My pigs don't like cilantro very much. They'll eat it, but only if they are sure there is nothing better coming.

I just discovered that my guinea pigs LOVE dandelion greens. I purchase them at the market from the organic salad greens section. They're just obsessed.

Parsley is also a staple.

One thing I've noticed since they've moved into a C&C cage is that now they can see when I'm eating, and they want my apple, grapes, etc... Its too cute to see them stand up and beg while staring at me. Silly pigs.

So far it's been romaine lettuce, parsley, carrots, cilantro, and strawberries. He likes everything except the strawberries. Oh I tried grapes, cantalope and strawberries in the same cup but I think that was a little overwhelming for him. I know he really enjoys carrots and its so hard to have to wait to give him one.
