would it be bad if my guinea pig had a little bit of chocolate. Only about 1/6 of a chocolate cookie. (my bro which is much older then me snuck her a piece cause she was wheeking her head off. it was dinner time)

I would watch her, make sure she is eating and drinking like normal. If you are really worried you could take her to the vet and see if he/she can do anything.

Tell your brother that is not ok! I hope that it doesn't do any damage, and at least it wasn't straight-up chocolate, but it could have some effects. Talk to a vet if you're worries at all.

Chocolate is harmful to dogs and small animals. A tiny amount isn't too bad, but do not offer people food or anymore chocolate.

UMM i give my pig chocolate all the time he loves it and he cuddles up next to me thanking me for it. i wouldnt worry about it to much.

Absolutely NO chocolate (poisonous!), cookies, crackers, breakfast cereals, bread, pasta, yogurt drops, or other "human treats."

Research suggests these may contribute to fatal cases of enterotoxemia, a toxic overgrowth of "bad" bacteria in the intestinal tract.

Dagwell, please don't anymore! It can cause serious problems, see the above post. Thanks!

um i guess all i can say is oops cause i give my piggy alot of what i eat not alot but occasionally because they always seem so happy. personalyy i dont see how bread and pasta could be bad for them seeing as they are just wheats ground up and put back together then cooked. but i guess i should stop if its so bad. thanks for the heads up . i was just saying that a bit of cookie isnt gonna kill her piggie if a lot of cookie doesnt kill mine.

They aren't just wheat, though--they contain preservatives, sugars, salts, colorings, flavorings, etc. Thanks for being so cooperative, I really appreciate it! There should be some info at GL if you want to go over there.

but i cant promise i wont "forget" just kidding all my piggies LOVED getting spaghetti so i wont give it to dagwell as much as i used to but i will occaisonally! sorry to be a spoil sport about the cooperativeness lol

Alrighty--it's your choice. I just wouldn't personally.

I wouldn't either. I'm sure a lot of pigs would eat that if they got it, but that still doesn't mean they should have it. If I've got a pig that's getting worked up about something I'm eating, then I just go back to the kitchen & get them a vegetable to munch on.

I just can't stand people who feed their animals chocolate (or anything potentially lethal.) My best friends dog had her stomach pumped due to chocolate (she pulled it out of a backpack when no one was looking), & I get very worked up when someone tells me it can't harm them. If you know it's bad for them, then why feed it to them?

Haven't you been reading what EVERYONE has been saying?! Chocolate, spaghetti, bread, all of that stuff is bad for guinea pigs! Just like citronsoul said- get a piece of HEALTHY veggy to the piggy! You need to stop giving him these things, it could possibly not show any effects now but could get him very sick in the long run! Listen to everyone's advise, guinealynxs advise- don't give any chocolate, spaghetti, ect anymore!

in my opppinion a strand of spaghetti once in a blue moon isnt that bad. im sorry to disappoint you and my im a bad piggy owner and should be shot. but im still gona give him a strand or two in his life time. what can i say besides sorry. what about mint like the leaf stuff is that ok for them?

I've been trying to use the rule "If a guinea pig wouldn't be able to find it in the wild himself, then a guinea pig shouldn't eat it" to guide myself. My guinea pigs go nuts when they hear me eating potato chips, but I know it's not something they'd eat on their own in the wild, so they don't get it! I don't understand why you would continue to feed your pig chocolate when you know it's bad. That's like those people who constantly overfeed their babies because the baby enjoys eating 8 burgers a day and they don't want to take it away, but in the end they're just killing their own child.

im not gonna give him chocolate but im gonna give him a strand of spaghetti im sorry but i was just posting my help telling her that the chocolate her bro gaveto the pig isnt gonna kill him or her.

If its only a strand of spagetti once in a blue moon, whats the point of feeeding it to your pig? Do you get some sort of weird enjoyment out of it. lol.

they get the enjoyment out of it. sorry

Do they enjoy it more than fresh greens, carrot, tomato?

I enjoy eating fast food and not going to work, doesn't mean I do it every day.
