Its the only brand of bedding sold anywhere in my area... I researched the brand a bit and it says its made of spruce and fir... so is it safe?? It doesnt appear to have a strong odor of any kind.

Kiln dried spruce and fir shavings are safe for pigs. As long as it doesn't have a strong scent you should be good to go.

@Elyzian The product info states it is made from spruce & fir which are pine trees. It also states it has a "pleasant" odor. This sounds like it is not kiln-dried so probably not safe for guinea pigs.

I inspected the shavings more closely.. they have absolutely no scent at all when I smelt (I nearly had some go up my nose, thats how close I checked).

I also found this on the packet:
Softwood shavings.
Hygenic, highly absorbent, dust free and dried, binds unpleasant odours.

So it should be ok if it says its been dried right??

Yes. As long as there's no evergreen odor, they should be ok.

Ok good... I'd hate to have my new 4 week old girls get sick.
