Last night, when I took the piggies out for floor time, I noticed Chip was limping. And this morning, he didn't come out for his salad! He always comes running when he hears the bag. he just laid there, even after I left. Well, earlier yesterday I took down the divider in the cage, because my mom was at work;) I watched them for about half an hour and they were fine. My mom thinks Rodney attacked Chip. I looked on his leg and there where no bite marks or blood. Does anyone know what could have happened or what I should do?

Hmm... I have seen my boys walking with stiff back legs. It looks like they are walking in slow motion. Was it like this?

His back leg does seem stiff. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it. He moves his back legs at the same time. Like he is hoping. He has never done this before.

My Squeakers has it but her being a female and had pups thats when it started. She limps when she gets up from laying down and once she plays around she's not limping as much. Hers is like a stiff leg. It could be from not enough vit c or too much vit c. You can go to guinea lynx and they should have info.

Yay! We just took Chip to the vet. He (the doctor) said that Chip had an old injury. He said all we have to do is give him a lot of carrots and he will be fine. Then we had to go to the pet store to get vitamans. They didn't have any though.

that is great news.At least its not a major worrynow.

Keep us posted!

He seems to be doing good. He doesn't limp as much as he did yesterdy. The only thing is he is not eating a lot:(

A lot of carrots? Sure sounds weird to me. Why did he say a lot of carrots?
I think you should go back... a piggie not eating much is never a good sign. A lot of carrots is never a good thing, anyways. Is this vet an exotic animal vet?

No, it wasn't an exotic vet. My mom didn't want to dive three hours, which is our nearest exotic vet. The vet told me to give Chip a lot of carrots because he has a vitamin definciency (sp?). I'm still not sure how that will help a lot though :/ He is eating some, but I think my mom gave him too much: a lettuce leaf bigger than him (romain don't worry), three baby carrots, shredded carrots, a lettuce mix with romain and cabbage and I think that's it:) If anyone knows if I'm doing something wrong please tell me:] thanks

oh, but the vet did recomend a vet that was good with guinea pigs.

Another update on Chip. When I went to the kitchen to get a snack, Chip was out eating:) I went around the corner where he couldn't see me he walked almost normal:) he did put pressure on it. Now he is eating pellets=)

I"m glad he's doing better. Keep us posted.

Well, he seems to be the same today, but he won't even walk to see Ginger! My mom and I think we should make one of those wheelchairs. We would use an old blanket for beeding, so the wheels wouldn't get stuck. Does anyone think this would be okay?

A piggie wheelchair? :D

They have them for dogs. I've seen a piggy that had one too.

never heard of that before. sounds like it'd look pretty cute, though. :)

Hey that is great. Hopefully he can fully recover. Good luck.

I think what he meant by lots of carrots is to give him a little extra TLC, I think making a wheelchair wouldn be a great idea beacuse if anything it would slow him down and he would try to chew his way out of it.
