cheerios?

My piggie was running around during breakfast and ate a cheerio before I could pick it up. I've never given my piggie anything but fresh veggies, fruit and clover. Are some processed foods ok? He really liked the cheerio and wouldn't stop wheeking until I gave him another. Are there any other cereals that are ok?

cereal...

I wouldn't give my guinea pigs cheerios...but I wouldn't give my children them either (not organic, high salt etc.). Many years ago, when I was a child and had four guinea pigs, hay wasn't readily available and we used to feed mash (bran with water) as the main food. I think there are plenty of healthier treats for your guinea pig to try...such as fresh veggies or fruit. Unlimited hay always.

a word about cereal

I was at a local small pet shop the other day when this gigantic 8 lb. rabbit hopped/waddled over to me. I have never seen a rabbit with a double chin before, but I swear it had one. Of course, it was the sweetest, most adorable thing ever, and she loved to cuddle. I asked why she was so big, and the lady told me her favorite snack was Apple Jax. Now, I know rabbits and piggies are quite different, but can you picture a guinea pig with a double chin? lol Just thought I'd share that.
