Need some explanation from experts.

Background: I have gotten 2 Guinea Pigs and was told that both of them are females. I found out that one of them is a male and I didn't want to have baby guinea pigs to reduce further complications so I got the male one neutered.

I have just re-introduced both of them together and they are mating! This has been going on for few hours - the male chasing the female around the cage (making rumbling sound), sometimes the female will stop to let the male mate, if not the chase goes on and on. FEW HOURS!

I feel that the female is tired but the male just keeps going.

IS this a normal behaviour? Should I separate them? Need advice!

If he is neutered he can not impregnate the female.

It sounds like dominance behavior to me.

It's normal. He's trying to say he's boss pig, but she'll have the last word. Just let them be.

He's mounting her and moving the hips like nobody's business. I'm pretty sure they are mating.

How long ago was he neutered? I neutered a male several years back, and the vet had told me to keep them separated for several weeks until all the sperm has left his body. I can't remember the exact length on time, maybe 3 weeks? Also, it takes some time for testosterone to leave the body as well, so that will effect his desire to mate.

If he is neutered he can not get the female pregnant. In a group they have to establish dominance. Only one of them can be the boss.

He may still want to mate. He can actually mate. He just can't impregnate her.

If you haven't waited 2 or 3 weeks, however, there's a chance that he can impregnate her.

I have separated them for 4 weeks after getting the male neutered.

my concern is whether the female pig is okay and she's not being "sexually abused"...

As long as it's been the 4 weeks between neuter and intros like you said, she is fine. Males mount males, females mount females - it's a dominance thing.

Incidentally, how long were they together before you realized they were male/female. It's possible she was impregnated during that time.

I'm getting my make neutered this Wednesday and I was told to wait 4 weeks to let him be around the females so he can't impregnate them.

I don't know if animals CAN be sexualy abused because it's part of nature to mate in animals. Like a survival technique. So maybe she is tired from running, but I don't think it's a problem (?) And she maybe even is....flirting?

If your cage is large enough for the female to get away from the male and the female is healthy, she'll soon get tired of his advances and let him know it.
