Hi all!
I just posted about 2 weeks ago about Penny's new living quarters. She still freaks out a little around me, but now that she has the new C&C cage, she popcorns and runs laps and is perfectly content exploring and playing in her new home. When I woke up this morning, my Penelope was being extremely quiet and hiding in her pigloo. Even when I called her name to greet her and put my hand in for her to smell, she didn't move a muscle. I tried not to think too much of it, but when I sat on the couch, she made a low noise that sounded like a cross between a purr and a sound that Chewbacca would make. She's still not moving around a whole lot, and to me looks a little bloated.

Things that have changed: I was feeding her Ecotrition Essential Blend food, which has a whole bunch of crap in it like corn, seeds, alfafa enriched pellets and fruit and vegetable rings that look like froot loops. After reading these forum discussions, I ordered a 10lb bag of Oxbow Cavy Cuisine, and she has been eating that for about 3 days. Also, my husband took her to the vet last weekend, and although she was given an clean bill of health, the vet suggested she eat cilantro and parsley daily to give her vitamin C, and said we can grow it ourselves. Well my thoughtful hubby planted some parsley that he obtained from Wal-mart and has been feeding it to her for a week, not under my watch. I asked if he had washed it before giving it to her, and if the parsely was in a place where no animals could get to it and contaminate it. He did choose a good place where animals would not get to it, but he confessed he had not washed it.

So, I'm wondering if the change in pellets is making her different, or if while the parsley was at Wal-Mart they sprayed it with chemicals along with water. Just yesterday she was normal, and today I notice her largeness, lack of activity and disinterest in even acknowledging my presence. Thoughts? Advice?

Good advice. I will try to thump her and I will try to get those drops no matter what to keep in our supplies.
