Hey Everyone I'm new here! I have a question.

I had 3 boars that have always got along well with each other. They would run and play, and fallow each other. Last week my sheltie died. Now my two boys, Diablo (who has known the sheltie since I adopted them both 4 years ago and was very sad) and Noah (The baby who know the sheltie for about 3 months) wont get along at all. Diablo will click his teeth when ever Noah comes near him, then he will run him off. It's not like he will hurt him, but they dont play anymore, and just sit on opposite sides of the cage from each other all day. They where such buddies what happend? Has this happend to anyone else after a loss? How do I cheer them up and renew their friendship? Thank you!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.

They're in shock and depressed after their friend died. Keep an eye on them, and hopefully they will grow closer soon. Perhaps adopting another new friend might help?

Not only are they confused by the loss of a friend they are also trying to figure out who will be the dominant boar.

When one animal leaves the herd the dynamic changes and there is bound to be tention for a while. Most likely Diablo will discover that he is in charge and stop being "ugly" to Noah. They should be back to being friends again soon.

Sorry you lost your sheltie. No matter what the coloring or markings are shelties are always such pretty pigs.

Thanks for the replys! This forum is so helpful! They are probablly determining who is in charge, I hadn't thought of that, they went through that when I first put the three together. I want to get another, but my parents wont let me :(. Thanks again, I'm sure after they get over the shock they will become close again!

Voodoo, I agree Shelties are so pretty. I love the coloring on yours - very beautiful. Quincy was black/orange with a little white strand around his head, and a white nose.
