I --

I just totally dropped my cell phone into my hot cup of yummy Lipton's tea.

:tombstone Rest in Peace little cell phone... >( I killed it.

Off to Alltel tomorrow, to BUY A NEW PHONE -- wasting at least another $100-$200 which I need to buy my fiance's wedding band.

This sucks.

:ashamed:

I dropped my phone to the bottom of a 12 ft. pool once when I was lifeguarding. Dove in and got it, dried it out, let it sit for a day and a half, and voila! Still works.

I've also dropped my phones in toilets and sinks.... and I left one out in the rain once, where it sank to the bottom of a mudhole. All of them still worked after I let them dry out!

I ran my husbands blue tooth throught the washing machine. I just let it sit a few days and it works just fine. Let it dry and see what happens.

Yup, I totally agree. I have dropped my poor phone into a pool out a two story window. After hitting the edge and falling in, it still worked after I dried it out.

If you can, take it apart so it dries quicker and the components don't go rusty. Old Nokia phones are the easiest ones to fix and come apart easily with a very small screwdriver. Not sure about more modern ones though.

My sister has dropped her phone into everything! The only thing it has not recovered from was a boiling pot of tomato soup! Everything got all gummed up.

Your phone might be fine after a few days. GOOD LUCK!

My husbands phone got left on top of our convection oven and melted so I bought him a new one and it went through the washer and dryer and melted again, needless to say my husband doesn't want another one besides the fact that we hate to use them.

Before you give up on your cell phone, check out this site and this thread.

Good luck! I hope you manage to save it!

For those of you who haven't soaked their electronic device yet, keep this rule of thumb in mind: never try to turn it on while it's still wet! Take out the batteries, dry it out (possibly using rubbing alcohol) and be sure you wait a good while until it's thoroughly dry before trying it. Trying it while still wet may cause things to short out and do permanent damage.

My boyfriend constantly drops his in water. We just let them sit for a day or 2 and they continue to work. His last phone was dropped in water on at least 3 occasions. We just upgraded it because we were eligible to on our plan. It was starting to give him some problems with shutting down with no notice but it was also 2 years old. Hope it works after it has had some time to dry out.

Years ago when everyone was using pagers instead of cell phones, I had just bought my first one from my best friend. I was so excited. The day I turned it on in my name I went to work. I went to restroom right before I went home, I flushed and when I was tucking my shirt back in, my pager plopped in the toilet. Luckily it was clean water, whew. Let it dry overnight and it worked great.

My dad fell in the pool the other week with his cell phone in his pocket so he took it apart and set it in the window to dry and then after the first day he turned it on and it started doing weird stuff and then he let it sit for another day and it works like it's new!!

My dad has phone problems... First, he dropped it overboard when we went fishing, then bought a new one of the same kind. Next, he left it on the bumper of his truck, but it stayed there for a three mile drive(we have no clue how). After that, went for a walk in the woods and found a pair of deer horns, he put his phone down to take a look at the horns, and left the phone there all night during a rainstorm (I laughed my butt off). He has done a lot of other things with his cell, but those are the funniest.lol

Lol. You are talking to them like they are your lifesavers. But, so would I if it was an expensive cell phone. What kind is it?

Its just a Motorola camera something or other...

I just have NO money to spare right now. The wedding is costing ALOT and I still have to get the fiance's wedding band --and I don't get paid till the 15th of every month. So, I would have no phone for a bit.

So yeah, you are lifesavers :-D
