I've noticed a strange behaviour on one of my cavies: when I have him with me, he sometimes rolls completely on his back for a moment, and then roll back to his normal position. It looks funny, but strange. I didn't read anything about this behaviour. At first I thought the critter gave a sign of surrendering or something like that, because he made himself very vulnerable by doing this. A cavy I had years ago did this too once or twice, but only on very soft fleece blankets. So maybe it could be a way of scratching?
Anyone knows what this means?

Be the best guinea pig trick ever haha.

dunno why he would do such a thing though. Just a funny mental picture.

I have heard of a few pigs that roll over when they're on a comfy pillow. Strange, but very entertaining.

Yeah, the one I got now did it on a soft pillow too! Maybe it's just crazyness and scratching it's back lol. Nothing to worry about probably.

Mine do!! Mine do!! I get a bit overexcited when you start talking about piggies rolling. I don't know why. I guess it's because mine are the rare few who do this. It's when they're on anything really soft. They'll just flop down, kick their legs up and roll onto their backs! It's so funny. I wish I got it on camera. Another member, jdoman, has piggies who do this too.

My pig used to try it when she was smaller, it was soo funny. Now she just completely sleeps on her side, with her head down like a human using a pillow.

A belly pig is just a pig who doesn't mind laying on his/her back. Most pigs hate it when you flip them on their backs and will do everything they can to flip back over. Belly pigs enjoy laying on their backs. I wish I had one.
