Cavy Introduction

I recently got a second cavy 2 days ago. I wasn't aware for the intro game, but what I did is I put both of them on the ground next to me and let them sniff each other. After about 10 minutes I put them both in the cage. My first guinea pig is humping my 2nd cavy a lot. They are both males. Can my first cavy be homosexual? Why does he constantly like to hump the second one. I got them both at a store that only breeds males. What can I do to make them get along better. Is there still time to bathe them together so they'll be like partners?

Mounting is a sign of dominance. If there is no bloodshed, don't separate them. There is no need for a buddy bath if they are getting on OK.

How big of a cage do you have? At least two of everything? You probably should have cleaned the cage out and rearranged things to make it more neutral territory.

Ditto cavy-cool. He is proclaiming his dominance.

The store only breeds males?

LOL, only breeds males! Haha!

Sorry for giggling, but that doesn't make a lick of sense!

Are you sure the person at the petstore did not sale you a male and a female? He could have told you they were both males just to sale you the animals. I would visit:

just to make sure. Then, clean the cage out, wash everything that can be washed, and put them back in to the cage together. :0)
