We have a 12 year old cat Mr. Blackie he was so close to our guinea pig Fuzzy who passed away Nov 19, 2016 . Mr. Blackie and Fuzzy would snuggle together , nap together , Fuzzy would even chew on Mr. Blackie claws and his Fur which just had Mr. Blackie laying there . By the way Fuzzy didn't get along with male guinea pigs and we couldn't find someone in our town who would neuter a guinea pig since our city as our city is not with many exotic vets that are true ones even the ones that are more knowledgeable can still be pretty clueless at times also .

Otherwise I think Fuzzy would had been more well suited with a female but I don't believe in leaving intact males with intact females when there are so many guinea pigs out there get dumped because of extra guinea pigs due to unplanned litters or how many guinea pigs are easily disposed of because so many people give up on them as I see like about 20-30 guinea pigs in our town being given up on once a month with many excuses So I am against breeding of any furrybabies for that matter when there are so much homeless furrybabies out there that are guinea pigs older than 2 , cats older than 8 yrs , dogs older than 10 yrs old. We ended up getting Fuzzy because he was a dump off because his family was moving.

We ended up adopting two piggy brothers on Jan 4, 2017 so it's going to be 1 yr on Jan 4, 2018 since Boogies and Poppy were adopted into our family .

So then I keep on wondering why does our cat Mr. Blackie want to try to go after Boogies & Poppy continously when he was so relaxed and calm with Fuzzy.

I am like wondering what's different ? Is it because Boogies & Poppy are more bigger or get more obviously more excited while Fuzzy was more of a laid back guinea pig ?

Fuzzy was like a 2.50 lbs while Boogies & Poppy are reaching to 3lbs .

I had always thought if once a cat was used to guinea pigs he would be fine with others but if Boogies & Poppy are having their run around play time I have to put Mr. Blackie in my room or my son room as it's too much of a risk for Boogies & Poppy to get harmed by Mr. Blackie while Fuzzy was able to snuggle with him.

So can you guys explain why our cat Mr. Blackie ended up getting along with our guinea pig Fuzzy for 4 yrs 3 months and now still tries to go after Boogies & Poppy even tho they have been with us for 11 months ?

Since the pigs are younger, they're undoubtedly more active. They probably trigger the cat's prey drive.
