Can't hold it?

Is is normal for my guinea pig to run away everytime I try to hold it?

can't hold it

My cujo is the most affectionate guinea pig i have ever seen and yet when he thinks he's going to be picked up he tries to get away every time. Once I have him he's happy - there is just something about the initial pick-up that seems to bother most guinea pigs!

I just got a baby guinea pig a few days ago, and I still am not able to hold it. It gets so scared and shakes violently whenever I try to pick her up. What is the proper way to pick up one anyways? Any tips?
