I was looking for guinea pigs needing rescue in Ottawa Ontario Canada threw Google and i can across this post in a different form! These people tick me off.

(broken link removed)

The one girl says hers is living in a $10 plastic storage bin from walmart!

Well at least one person on there knows there stuff.

I know but one person had her piggies in a 40gallon fish tank!!! and she claims she was someone who worked in a pet store! so much for professionalizim(Sp?) as far as a plastic tub from wal-mart, WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!! every where i go, except for here people are being cruel in the way they cage and house their lovies. Sorry stuff like this ticks me off BIG TIME!

Is this the one you were talking about:
"
Wow, I keep my guinea pig in a shallow clear plastic container that maybe cost $10 from Walmart. I have had a total of seven guinea pigs over the past five or six years, and none of them have ever tried to get out. Well, that's not exactly true...I did have a particularly active one once and he escaped once or twice...but I mean, they just go run into the corners and hide. It's not like they can actually go anywhere.

I put newspaper down under the wood shavings, as it helps to absorb.

ALSO if you get a long-haired one you'll have to bathe it on occasion, especially if you neglect to cut its hair and it gets all matted... (at thirteen I didn't have a good concept of how to take care of animals)

I LOVE my guinea pig. I think they are the best pets ever, because they're basically content to just sit around. They are social, but if you don't want two, one is okay. We keep ours in the kitchen right now (where people congregate the most) and my dad in particular likes to talk to it."

Cause if it is, that person is really dumb (no offence) how could someone keep their precious piggy in a plastic container that is $10 from walmart?!!! And they are not content just to "sit" around! they need to be active!!! And keeping one isn't ushually OK, because they get lonely and depressed! Do people have any sence? oh my gosh, and 7 pigs in the last 5 or 6 years! I've had the same pig for 6 years!!!!
wow, i'm glad that you posted this, becasue it makes people aware of how un- educated people are about their pets!
Thank you for posting this.

That is EXACTLY what i was talking about! if thier piggie is just sitting around then i feel really sad for that little lovie. That tells me that lovie gets NO floor time, no run space in thier cage ect ect

The other part that ticked me off was the person that was telling the other about the fish tank!!!! GRRRRR ARRRRGGGG!!!! i can't belive there are people out there that do this to animals.

I have an idea (well more a dream) lets track this person down and lock her/him in a closet (with a window) and just hand her/him food and water, maybe we will tell her/him once a week that she/he is a "good baby". I bet that would change their perspective on Gp's.

Sorry just venting.

Onyx, the only place I could find in Ottawa to adopt is the Humane Society just off off Carling. That's where I got my boys and I believe right now they have many piggies waiting for good homes.

I looked on their website three times today and they don't have any right now. A few days ago they had about 2 or 3 but they all got adopted...hopefully to good homes. I'm going to keep on looking every few days or so and see if there are any more ready for adoption. I know where the humane society is, i use to parttake in their "Dog Walk" program a few years ago. But thanks for the help at any rate. Is there a "club" for ottawa cavy owners in ottawa. I know there is the Ottawa Parrot Club, but was wondering if there was one for Cavy's.

Maybe this should be in the Kitchen?

Yes, it should be.

oh my gosh that is such a good idea!!!
what kind of air head would think her poor piggie would be happy just "sitting around?!

What is "the Kitchen"? Sorry a bit new here. I thought this area was for Cavy's. Sorry if i posted it in the wrong area. I will try to more aware of where i post.

the kitchen is where we cook trolls and let them simmer...

Nah, it's where posts that are to do with breeding/showing/pet stores are posted
