I weighed my girls today.. exactly a month after a first weighed them...
The pregnant one - When i bought her she weighed 448g. Now, exactly a month on.. she weighs 840g!!!!
(Her friend that i bought her with which isn't pregnant and who i assume is approx. the same age started off at 315g and is now 509g - so you can really see the difference in weight gain!!!)

So it works out about 200g of her body isn't hers! how much do babies usually weigh??
Is there anyway you can say from the weight how far gone she is or how long it might be until she gives birth?

I read one time at birth the pups are 3 ounces and 3 inches long I am not totally sure about this though. www.cavyspirit.com would help you more.

ok. thank you.
I'll check that site out. thanks x

You are welcome. It is so fun to teach people about guinea pigs. I'm glad I could help.

its kind of hard to tell how far along a piggie is just by her weigth because many factors can influence her weight change. for example, how old was she when you got her (before she became pregnant)? because if she is still growing (which she should be because she should only become pregnant before 7 months old) then her weight gain is also due to her growing, not just her babies.

you can tell you are close when you can feel and see the babies moving in her.
