Wood Pellets/Chips Can I use coconut coir for guinea pigs?

I'm using fleece and thought about using coconut coir as litter for the litter box.
Is it safe? It's cheaper than wooden pellets.

In America it's known as kitty's crumble/ critters crumble.
 
You could try it. As long as they don't eat it it's probably ok.
