A friend of mine went out for sushi yesterday and asked me if her two guinea pigs could eat the leftover pieces of ginger (no sugar, just raw strips of ginger). I had no idea what to tell her. Does anyone know? Can Guinea Pigs eat ginger?

Usually ginger that is given with sushi is pickled. I'm not sure about the actual ginger root, but I wouldn't give them the pickled stuff that comes with sushi.

I wouldn't feed ginger, pickled or otherwise.

MinnieMay9 is correct. That isn't raw ginger you get at a sushi restaurant. It's pickled, and pickles of any sort shouldn't be given to guinea pigs. Even raw ginger would be a bit too hot and spicy for their tender stomachs. Best just to throw out the leftovers.
