I know guinea pigs can have mites, but can they catch fleas? I just found out my cat has fleas which I'm treating her for. Yuck! I'm wondering if I should treat my pig too? Thanks in advance.

guinea pigs can get fleas too, but i'm not quite sure on him they can get it from a different animal..probably..but someone more experienced in this area will help you i'm sure.

I think they can get it. I mean, when cats for example have fleas they can get into your carpet, so why couldn't they live on guinea pigs?

I think that although the pigs may get some fleas on them but they probably will die. Because it would be the same with dog fleas on people, they just can't live on us.

Cool. Thanks for the advice. I can relax now...

Guinea pigs do get fleas and if you notice fleas on your piggies, they need to be treated.

I haven't actually noticed any fleas, but then again, I didn't notice them on my cat either. My pig does scratch sometimes, though not a lot. Do you know how to treat a guinea pig for fleas? I've seen all sorts of products, but they're only good for cats and dogs. The only thing I've seen for guinea pigs is a flea comb. Any ideas?
