So I love to craft (yarn is MY sport) and I was wondering...if I use organic yarn or yarn I've hand-cleaned and spun, would that be safe for cavy creations?

I'm thinking cuddle cups/sacks, houses, toys, etc.

Well, if I find the answer somewhere else, I'll post it here. You do the same? :)

I don't think yarn is safe. It ravels easily, and pigs can cut it with their sharp teeth and swallow considerable lengths of it, which just ball up in their stomachs and cause all kinds of problems. I wouldn't let yarn near my pigs. Maybe you've got other pets who wouldn't eat it and would appreciate a new bed or something?

It's not whether or not it's organic, although I don't know how you'd get organic yarn. It's the fact that the threads can cause an intestinal blockage, which is a life-threatening illness for a guinea pig, and one that require lots of time and money from you to try to correct, and with no guarantee of success. Again, I think you ought to keep yarn, or really anything that will ravel into threads, far away from your guinea pig.
