Would I be able to make a cage out of chicken wire? or will that harm the pet? I asked my dad to try a c&c cage and he said we have chicken wire and we can try that. I wasn't sure though and I don't want to put them in a harmful environment. If they can't use that as a cage would I be able to use it as a playpen for them to run in instead of buying a tiny one for $50 dollars at the store?

Please don't buy one from the pet store -- no way will it be big enough.

You can get the grids for about $20 from Walmart (Whitmor is their brand), and I've read several places that Sears has a good deal on them. Kmart carries them also.

You don't have to have coroplast, but you do need a waterproof underlayer no matter what the walls are made of. You can use a plastic table cloth or a shower curtain as long as you fix it so that the pigs can't eat it.

If you use the chicken wire, you'll have to find something else for the bottom anyway. And you'll need wood to attach it to, and you have to keep the wood away from the pigs or they'll eat it.

Maybe if you show him some of the cages in the Photo Gallery he'll reconsider.
