Cage Size

Hello. Im new to Cavy Cages. I was just looking for some cages on the net when I CC. Let me tell you. I have had a small purple My first home cage. It Is WAY TOO SMALL! I feel so bad for my piggies right now. I am build a C&C cage soon (Around the 17th) and I was wondering about the size I picked. The measurement is 56"x42". That means it is 4x3 in cubes. Is this big enough? I have limited space because the Cavy's have to stay in my room and my room is very small. I want my piggies to have the best and hope that this is a reasonable size.If someone could please share an opinion that would be great!

P.S. Can I cat-proof a cage this size?

How many piggies do you have? That should be plenty big for your piggies. If you put a cover on the cage then that would cat proof it.

I have two named Piglet an Eeyore. I've seen in many pictures wire closet shelving on cage tops. Would this work?

That is plenty big enough for them and I am sure they will love it. I'm not sure about the wire top, you would probably need support under them, unless the wire is very strong. I don't have a top so i can't really answer it. Goodluck.

Aww.... love the names. You should get 6 more and call them Pooh, Tiger,Rabbit,Kanga,Roo and Owl.
