Hey everyone! I am about to build a C&C cage. All I need to do is buy the coroplast. However, I need to convince my dad that the cage won't leak with a coroplast base if it is properly maintained with fresh fleece and a sufficient under layer. This way my guinea pigs won't be doomed to store bought cages. Thank You!

is there a way you can get a small sample and show your dad how it works with water and diffrent things.

Sit down with him and read through the posts on this site. There are lots of people here who have built wonderful C&C cages. Done properly, they do not leak. But you can always use an extra layer under the fleece or put the entire cage on a piece of vinyl flooring, shower curtain, etc.

Who all successfully uses a C&C cage?

I successfully use a C&C cage. They are MUCH better than store-bought cages and DO NOT leak! :)

Ahh yes...dad's are always the hardest to convince.

Guineapig_girl1, not to be rude, but this forum was created about C&C cages in the first place! No one on this forum uses them UNsuccessfully. Almost EVERYONE on this site uses C&C cages and very successfully! Sorry if this comes off as rude I just thought I'd point this out b/c you asked who on here uses C&C cages sucessfully. -Sorry about spelling mistakes on my phone-

Hopefully your Dad will say yes, I know what it likes to try to convince them of something.

GOOD LUCK!! :)

P.S. Yes, I use a C&C cage succesfully.

REALLY GOOD POST!!!

The coroplast is plastic, plastic doesn't leak if cut right. Fleece absorbs urine and keeps out odor and keeps the pigs clean and healthy. I have a business selling guinea pig cage liners and accessories...the owners on the forum know what works, that is why we are on this forum :) to learn and teach others.

Fleece doesn't absorb urine. It wicks it through to the absorbent layer you put under the fleece. The fleece feels dry while the absorbent layer soaks it up.

Thanks for catching my typing error :) My liners are fleece, absorbent material and then another layer of fleece. The urine soaks into the absorbent interior and dries :)
