Cage Expansion in Dorm

Well, here's my dilemma. I have one male right now in a 2x3 and I plan on getting him another male friend as soon as school starts up again. I'm kind of wondering if you all had any advice about enlarging a cage to fit two boys...since they're males and will probably be a bit territorial, should I start over with a 2x4? Or maybe just an upper level in the 2x3? (I've always just had girl pairs before, this is a new area for me!)

The other consideration is that we'll be in a college dorm, so I don't have a ton of room to expand, but I'm going over to measure my new room tonight so I have some ideas about my options. Have any of you had dorm room guinea pigs before? Any creative ideas for saving space?

(One thing I was thinking of doing would be to put the cage on a sturdy table so that I could use the space underneath for storage. Also, because my pig is a bit shy, I've heard that this might help with that too, because humans won't seem so big and intimidating to him anymore.)

Definately putting a cage on a table will cut down on the pig's shyness quicker. You will be on the same level and will not look so scary and you can interact better with your piggy. First check out your room and see what the best dimensions would be.

Putting the cage on a table is fine. Just make sure the table is large enough. If you can expand to at least a 2x4, that would be better than a 2x3. I have two boars in a 2x3 at the moment (one is over 1 year, one is about 7 1/2 weeks) but Patch is growing like a weed and the cage is getting more crowded. I will be expanding myself as soon as I can find a big enough space to expand to.
