Hi everyone! As of tomorrow, I am picking up my first C&C cage from a nice lady off CraigsList. I currently have 1 bunny. The lady is including the coroplast, 17 small square grids (1.5" squares), 29 large square grids (3" squares) and 49 connectors. She is also including a ramp and also various accessories, such as a couple litter boxes, hidey houses, mats, etc. Being this my first C&C cage, I would appreciate some cage modeling ideas. The cage can not be wider than 2 grids, but there is no limit to the length. I would like to make an underneath storage area / mounting thing for the cage, but it is kinda limited with the number of grids. I would really appreciate any advice on modeling for the cage. Thank You!

Can you/ are you willing to buy more grids? I think you will end up with a pretty small cage with no more grids than that. I don't think it's safe to make the cage with the grids with bigger holes so you can use them to make the stand. I would build the cage 2 grids high and put a top on it and that will take lots of grids.

With 17 correct sized grids, you could make a 2x6 and used up 16 grids (2 + 6 + 2 + 6). You'll have one more left for the hay rack. The rest of the big sized grids can be used for stands. Have you seen the photo galleries? There are lots of ideas in there.

How many pigs do you have?

Edit:
Oops, my bad. Didn't read it was for a bun. A one grid high 2x6 will probably not be enough.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! :) I am willing to buy more grids, and understand that it has to be 2 grids high for a bunny. I think I may build a bigger cage without a stand, until I purchase more grids. I really appreciate your comments, Thank You! <3

I would go without a stand for a bunny or at least have part of the cage on the floor that way you can let your bunny out of the cage so he can hop around.

There you are, Inle_Rabbitthe Rabbit Expert!:p I never thought of that, but if he will be kept in the guest room, as he is not fully litter trained I would not let him out on the floor upstairs. He is walked on a leash during warmer days and has an indoor playpen, but that's it. I'm not letting him go free roam on our white carpets, at least not until he is fully litter trained. Lol :)
