I'd like to make Carrot a C&C cage; has anyone had experience with building them? And where should I buy cubes and coroplast? How big should the cage be?

Thanks in advance.

Funny question to ask here, of all places... *G* If you're in the U.S., you can buy the C&C "ingredients" here on this site. If not, please check the foreigner forums. If you're in Germany, I can tell you where to look.

In any case, good idea to make a big cage for your pig! I'd suggest a 2x3 for starters. Bigger is even better.

I am not sure where you are from so I can't give you an exact place to buy supplies, however many department stores carry the cubes such as walmart, costco, home depot, bed bath and beyond and so on. You can get the coroplast at any sign store in your area and sometimes if you specify that it is for a cage, they will sell it to you a little bit cheaper. For one guinea pig, the reccomended size is a 2x3, but the bigger the better.

Thankyou for the links voodoo, they helped alot.

How big are your cages, guys?

Mine is a 2x6 and houses five cavies.

I'm almost done building my very first 2x3! I got my cubes at Target ($15) and my coroplast at FastSigns ($20). When I'm done with it tomorrow I will upload pics!

4X5... four pigs I want to get a fifth, but that's probably not gonna happen

I have a 3x4 for my three pigs. Room enough for one more...

I have a 3x3 for my 2 boys, and a 3x3 for my 2 girls as well. I suggest a 2x4 is good.

My two boys live with my sisters two boys in a 2X6. They love it!

I have 4 piggies in an "L" shaped cage that started as a 2x4, but then I just added another 2x3 unto it, so it is the equivalent of a 2x7.

2x6 for one male, 3x3 for one soon-to-be-neutered male, and a 4x6 for 4 girls. I would make Carrot a larger cage than a 2x3, so that you don't have to add on in case you get Carrot a buddy.

Well, maybe but I don't think I'm getting Carrot a buddy anytime soon.

Uh..Slap, you said you have 5 piggies in a 2x6, 12 square feet I think? but doesn't on the home page say it should be at least 13 preferably more? So I guess it's not strict..OK!

Actually a 2x6 would be 14 square feet.

oops it would be 16 square feet and I believe that is enough room. Right?

Really? I thought you just multiplyed it. So are you supposed to multiply it or what..?

A 2x6 is 13 sq. feet. It is the minimum. But when I move (very soon!) It will be a 3x8.

I have a 3X3 for my girls and a temporary strange shaped loft for my boar which is a 2 X 3 with one cube square taken out of it. (Where the ramp used to go. My husband made me take it out. He thinks the boar can escape and use the ramp to get to the girls.)

He's only going to be in there untill he's old enough and big enough for his neuter. After he recovers (and I wait 3 weeks) I'm going to open up the loft again so he can be with his lady friends.
