Can cavies climb out of C&C cages???

Cavies can't climb. They have too much body fat and stumpy little legs. They are just not built to be acrobats.

They will not climb out from the cage. Only baby cavies will "squeeze" out from the grid holes. Therefore you need to build the coroplast base will 6" wall.

Same response here. They usually will not attempt to jump, either, because these cages give them ample space. =)

My piggy likes to try to climb....but not out of the cage. She constantly puts her front legs up and tries to scale up places during floor time. But to get anywhere she would really need a ramp, she can't really climb straight up!

They can actually jump higher than I thought. I have a one level cage with two lofts maybe 8 in up. I built a ramp system for them to use but my little piggie just leaps straight up into the loft. Makes me glad I put a cover on the cage because of the cats. The cats don't care about the pigs but the baby would have been able to leap out of the loft and out of the cage where the long fall would have probably seriously injured him.

Well, I've got news for you all. One of our guinea pigs, an aguti breed, can climb the c & c cages, she climbs the bars when she can get in between the cages, because we have two. I know some people say cavies don't like heights, but i've always found mine trying to get the the highest level they can, and just sitting there observing, being the king/queen of cage.

Well, I suppose there is always an exception. You'll just have to be on the lookout for the odd piggy, and then you could just make a top for the cage out of some ClosetMate wire shelving from Home Depot. =)
