I have built my 1st cage and it is 1 1/2 grids wide and 3 grids long but i want to make a second level to put the food on so that the bottem is pretty much empty because she likes to run a lot so it gives her more room. What can I use for a ramp i'm on a really low budgit?

A 1.5 by 3 grid cage is still to small. Is there any way that you can make it bigger? A 2x3 grid cage is the minnimum.

A 2x3 C&C is definately the minimum size and the ramp takes away square footage. I suggest expanding it by that 1/2 grid before you try building a loft and a ramp.

I wound up taking out the second level to the cage because the ramp took up so much space in a 2x4. They seem happier with a more open cage. The only thing I would consider using are those large tubes if I could run them outside of the cage and back around, but I think they may be too small for my guys. If I expand, I'll probably just go longer to 2X5, or at least go to 2x5 before I add a second level. Good luck!

I put the tubes on the outside of the cage to free space inside. They are kind of a pain, but overall worth it I think. Turbo is 2 lbs and can squeeze passed Scooter (1 lb) inside the tubes if he thinks he's not moving fast enough.

I am exactly the same as you widallas. I took out my second floor in my 2x4 because the whole cage just looked too cramped. In the summer I am able to expand the cage to 2x5, and only then will I build a second story. I also like the whole 'ramp outside the cage' thing, such as space saver

Thanks TurboPiggy! I couldn't remember who had that awesome cage with the tubes.

Whew -- it's good to hear other people have done the same thing. I must admit, the pictures in the photo galleries with second stories look soooo tempting to try and build... By the way, the pictures in your gallery of your piggies in the garden are great!
