Hi! I finally convinced my sister to let me make her rabbit (Willy) a C&C cage! lol She lives in an apartment, but Willy and her birds have a bedroom to themselves so space isn't really a huge issue. I think she wants it to be 2x4. Is this enough space for a single bunny? It will definitely be an upgrade from his store-bought cage, which as everyone knows is basically a glorified litter box. I'll be going on Monday to get supplies. So do I basically build it like a Guinea Pig cage, just build it up? Maybe 2 or three grids high? Also, will cable ties be strong enough for bunny that chews or should I use something stronger. And, Should I make it to where he can't chew the coroplast by setting the cubes into the coroplast instead of the other way around? Thanks in advance and sorry for all of the questions!

Kudo's on doing such a great thing for your sister's bunny!

Does he get much free range time? How big is he? I'd probably go a 2x5 at least, with free range time for 4-5 hours on top of that. If you can build up so he has some levels as well, that would be fantastic. 2 grids high is definitely needed so that they can stand and periscope with ease. I would also think about a lid, if he has a tendency to jump!

Not sure on the cable ties bit - one of my bunnies, Noah, is notorious for chewing but he leaves the cable ties alone (and the grids too for some reason!). Corflute on the other hand is delicious, so I'd definitely have grids on the inside, corflute on the outside.

Thanks! I'll try to talk her into a 2x5! Definitely going to be making a lid and levels for the little guy. He's not huge, probably around 5 lbs, but he loves to hop! She and her husband to give him some free range time, but they are students so he's in his cage a lot.

You definitely need a lid on that. My bunny is 5 lbs or less, and I've seen him jump over a baby gate with no problem. They are escape artists!

I finally got his cage together today! They brought him over so that we could all see him when he saw his new "condo". HE LOVES IT! He's been hopping nonstop!

Bunnies like to jump on things too. If you could make some shelves or put a laundry basket in with the front part cut out, or big enough for him to get into. He would have a house to go into and a shelf to jump up on.

P.S It is a very nice cage.

Will do Suzilovespiggie! I've got some extra grids, so I'll get on it :) He has a hay rack and other things to go in there... they just didn't bring them with him when they came over :) I'm bringing them the cage today, so I'll make a shelf for the cage before I leave. He seems to like the litter box. They left him here for a "sleep over" and he hasn't pooped or peed on the fleece at all.
