Hi there.

I have six girls living in a 3X5 C&C cage with a 2X3 Loft. I also have four boys but they live in the shed in a hutch. I want to bring them in but I have no room to build another cage. Then I thought I could build it ontop of the girls cage but I don't see how.

With my 2X3 loft I had to use two grids just to support it.. I can't use grids to support the boys cage which I want to build ontop. Can anyone suggest on what I can use to support the boys cage? Also how would I get into the girls cage to clean it out?

Thanks for any suggestions!! :)

I am actually doing the same thing. I used to have a 2x4 cage for my three girls, but they need more room, so i am presently building them a 2x5 cage with another 2x5 level above it. I am just using cubes and coroplast, and for stability of the second level, i am using 1 1/2 inch PVC for support.

I am also making my ramp out of wood and carpet.
good luck!

I finished my cage, and it is actually very bright. I used regular cubes, not mesh, and yellow coroplast. The sides are fairly low so a lot of light comes in.

I too went ahead with it but I only covered half of the cage. I found that it is quite dark underneath but not pitch black. The guinea pigs seem to prefer it, they do not stay under there all day though. Unfortually the boys moved back outside because they were having punch ups due to the smell of the girls.

Have you got any pictures of your new cage?

When I read your question I was thinking to myself, surely they would fight with the smell of the girls too.
