I just found out one of my piggies has got a broken nail! I would like to clip it off, but there is still life in there, I can see the 'flesh' peeking out a bit. What should I do? Should I just wait till it dies and then clip it? Or will it fall off naturally? I have no idea how the piggy could just break a nail, could it be there was a fight when I was out? They seem to do okay now.

Problem solved itself, I wanted to pick the piggie up, he ran away ofcourse, and his nail broke. No blood.

I had the same thing happen to my dog.. had to take her to the vet. (pantic parent) and they pulled the nail off and gave me a solution of betadine. which I dilute in water to a lite tea color and soak her foot twice a day..
It helps it keep from getting infected. So you might want to call the vet and see what you should do also.. Just so you don't end up with an infection on your piggies foot

Good idea, I had to go for a mite-check-up anyway :)

One day Timmy was frightened by a noise and leapt from my arms. Timmy soared about 4 feet, landed in the corner, backed up, and instantly popped out a bean. He also broke a nail completely off. It never seemed to bother him, and grew back in a month or two. Fortunately, he hasn't been airborne since.
