After reading the post " I cried all night" which is a very touching post! It made me realize that the last pet store I was in, always has baby guinea pigs. In open site behind the babys they have one of those glorified litter pans filled with 4 adult females. On the cage there is a sign that says " the name of the pet store, breeders". They also have a cage filled with the boys that has the same sign but mentions males. Put 2 and 2 together they must be breeding those poor pigs over and over again to always have different babies. I have been in there approx less then 5 times and have always seen new babies. Those people are putting those poor girls at risk getting them pregnant over and over again.
Would this be something to mention, or writing a letter to them about? I doubt a letter would get me anywhere. The same go for the mice and rats. Although I dont see any breeder signs for them.

Breeding guinea pigs is not illegal. You can report abusive conditions, but not breeding.

You can write a letter to the store and let them know that you hope they will discontinue selling animals and that you will not buy from them until they do. There are plenty of places to purchase from online if you do not have any stores that don't sell animals in your area.

And, since I have been a member here, I have learned that females are often sold with the guarantee that, if pregnant, the store will accept the babies back and sell them. Nice, huh???

O I dont buy anything from there. No, No, No! I buy my stuff online, I just like to go in and view how things are in there. Considering its a big a pet store, 2 levels.
