I heard there is a specific season when breeders breed the guinea pigs. Is this true?
Or how with some other animals they have to wait a long time till mating again.
Or, are they like rabbits and can breed all the time?

Can I ask why you want to know? Breeding discussions aren't allowed, except in the kitchen forum.

I want to know because I want baby guinea pigs.
& whenever I go to shelters or pet stores there alway older..

Breeding guinea pigs is a terrible idea. There are thousands in shelters and rescues that need homes. In my opinion, it's very selfish to want to breed JUST because you want babies.

1 in 5 pregnancies ends fatally for the female. Are you willing to risk a precious life just for that?

Maybe she just means she wants to know when is the best time to look in the shelters and rescues and actually find babies...

That's not what I mean, Catahoula.
please read the end of the question & my previous response.

I'm talking about how petstores and shelters always have older guinea pigs when I go, when I want babies.
IM NOT A BREEDER.
I don't even have any guinea pigs, so I'm asking when is the right time to get BABY guinea pigs from pet places.

I did reply with an apology. I just didn't get it posted quick enough. I really am sorry for assuming things to quickly. I should have read your response more carefully and asked more questions if I was still unsure of your intensions. Please forgive me.

Probably the best way to get babies is to apply at a rescue as an adopter, and tell them that you want baby pigs. They can then let you know when they've got some. Otherwise, just keep looking on Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder. There's no one season or time of the year that's better than another.

I understand why people want babies, because they are so little wee and cute, but IMO older pigs are the best! You don't have to deal with wild and crazy hormones, or baby-proofing, etc. Older ones are usually so chill and just happy to cuddle and snuggle. It's your choice but I just wanted to share that older pigs are awesome and are often overlooked. Something to think about.

Also, please don't buy, adopt!
