A while ago a post was made to remind everyone why we have this forum. I think it's time to start a new one.
Teresa started this forum to help people, any people, build better enclosures for their animals, to assist them in that process and to educate them on how to more properly care for their pets.
Occationally we get breeders on this site. In fact we have several long time members that breed. We need to avoid running off every breeder that comes to this site. If we do that then the animals will not get better housing or care and the breeder may never see our point of view and stop breeding.
Keep in mind that we do not hate the breeders. We hate the breeding.
Yes, yes, there are some horrible people out there that breed and we can never help the animals in their care; but there are a great many others that perhaps we can help. IF we treat them with a little respect.
We will, of course, enforce the rules. There will never be how to breeding discussions, sales of animals or breeder links allowed. We will squash the trolls and tear up the abusers. If it is a case like that you have permission to have a good go at them (with some degree of control and restraint).
Please though, use your better judgement before saying something too harsh. We cannot help the animals if we chase off the owners.
Keep in mind that this site and others like it have already changed the minds of many many breeders. Maybe you will notice that breeders sometimes stop breeding and become rescuers but I have never heard of a rescuer to start breeding. That should prove right there that we are walking the higher moral ground and that there is hope.
So give them a chance, for the sake of the animals.
