Double edit: Just figured out how to post the poll. Never mind!

So I was curious what the ratio of girl guinea pig owners to boy guinea pig owners was, so I decided to post a poll.

All four of my piggies are boys.

Two boys here!

I have four girls, and soon to be 2 rescue boys coming from a bad situation, so I just put myself in boys and girls, though technically at this moment, I only have girls.

1 girl, don't plan to adopt any boys, too much gross stuff like boar stank, sperm rods, etc. lol. I do however, plan to adopt her a female friend soon. :)

out of curiocity why would a male guinea pig need sperm rod?

I have 2 girls, but may be getting a male at the end of the school year.

No, it's something that they have. I mean, like, they shoot it out our something. lol I don't know there was a thread about it...

Ahhhh thanks I didn't know lol >.<

1 nuetered boy and 2 girls

Ditto. I'm enjoying the boys I "fostered", tho'. They are quite funny, and much more laid back than the girls.

OMG! :D ROFL!!! @Puggles and arionat799-Boy pigs can have very high sex drives, so they masturbate, and the sperm gets stuck inside the sheath covering the penis, and then it hardens-thus the name "sperm rod". Check out GuineaLynx. And yes, unless you don't mind cleaning perineal sacs and penises with mineral oil, and enduring the stinkiness "down there", I'd suggest you stay with girls. I think they're easier. Oh, and my girls don't fart when I pick them up, either. (I have to stop, my stomach hurts from laughing so hard....:D)

One boy and one girl here. It was supposed to be two girls, but the humane society mis-sexed our first pig and we had already committed to take a girl as a companion when we found out the truth. Borat's probably going to be neutered this summer.

I have a horse, and if you think cleaning guinea pig sheaths is gross, you don't know disgusting till you clean out your gelding's pouch.

LOL you guys! All this talk about pouches. hehehe.

Thanks for including piggy wannabe owners in this and not just piggy owners. Not many polls on here I can take since I'm only learning and don't have piggies just yet. (And I'd really like to know if I'm the only overly excited member who's here to learn and doesn't have piggies just yet...)

ROFL @mufasa

To be honest, every time people go on about how gross boys are, it makes me want to stick to them even more. Feel sorry for the little men. Lol.

Bleh! Yes, I know. Ewww, LOL. I want to know what the boys in the wild do? They don't have human slaves to clean them out.

We've got two lady pigs.

Sow and neutered boar. :cheerful:

Two boy piggies! I'm so biased, most of my pets have been males and I prefer it that way. I seem to "click" with their personalities better.
I also feel bad that the boars get overlooked because they require more work. Cleaning them is not anymore gross than chasing a babies diaper! lol
