My older pig is all by herself at my mothers house, and has been her whole life. I made her a 2X4 cage yesterday and she seems to linger near the back and only moves if its necessary. I know that pigs need friends because Ive been here for a few months as most of you know, and I have two pigs at my fathers house. I am earning up the cash by doing chores to adopt a friend. Is she just not use to being in a huge cage? Or is it because she is lonely? And will her laziness change when I adopt her a young spunky pig?

Yes it will change but try adding a tunnels, toilet paper tubs, oatmeal and cottage, cheese containers, ect. and if you hide their daily veggies around the cage they have to move to find them.

Does the cage have any toys? Even if we put you in a big room there wouldn't be much to do if all you had was a couch. It would be an improvement over sitting in a closet but with no toys and noone to play with life would be pretty boring. You can add new disposable toys everyday by just using cardboard or paper. Slit a papertowel or toilet paper tube and stuff it full of hay or veggies. They'll carry around and chew up the cardboard getting out the food. Make tunnels using covered up bent grids or buying those log houses that can be bent into shapes. Piles of hay tossed over tunnels make even more things to run and dig through. Some guinea pigs also like playing with bird toys or bells hung in the cage. A friend will go a long way to make the other pig more active.

thanks for the ideas! So far I only have a hammick, A little cat house cozy thing, and a tunnel. I think I'll add more :)
