I got a single 6 month old female guinea pig from someone rehoming her. I had her for about two weeks before I got another female (she is in a separate cage currently, but I have them close to each other so they can interact). She is younger, but not sure how much..just going based off size. When I first introduced them the little one wouldn't move and it seemed that my older pig didn't really care for her. I have been looking into bonding and plan on putting them in a neutral place (my bathroom) to see their interaction from there now that the younger one has warmed up more to her new home, but I am still nervous. I know a lot of the videos and such I have seen say that let them work out who will be the dominate one and that you shouldn't remove them unless there is blood or pulling of fur. I guess I am asking how long should I let them sort things out for in the bathroom before I put them in the cage together (2x4 and I do plan on buying more grids to expand more). I have two water bottles and two hay feeders and multiple places to hide and will deep clean before they are both put in there..I'm just nervous that while asleep or at work that something might happen..probably overthinking it. Any tips and recommendations are welcomed. Thank you!

I would suggest setting up a small makeshift cage next to the main cage. That way they can get to know each other’s scent without fighting.
