i have 2 boars, one is 1 1/2 yo. i have had him for over a year now. he has a younger boar cage mate about 10 weeks old or so. the older one keeps trying to breed with the younger one. will he eventually quit doing this?

That's just a sign of dominance. Did you just recently put him in there?

they have been together since last week. will he eventually stop doing it?

I know animals can be homoseksual too, so maybe he won't ever quit ;)
To be honest, I do not know.

its a sign of dominance

Yes, it's just dominance. However, are you sure the new one is, for sure, a male?

It is common for boars to hump boars and sows to hump sows. I have that problem with Chatty. She tries to hump Charity sometimes.

It may slow down..but i doubt it will ever stop comletely..guinea pigs often have little arguments over things, and to them, it is neccisary to show who is boss.

100% positive that the little one is a male.

Just give it some time, it should let up in a week or two.

If it doesn't stop altogether it won't be anything major to worry about. It may just be part of this boars behavior.
