Big Problem!

OK so some worthless college student decided to buy a guinea pig and then they were just going to keep it in a box. (She lives on campus) She got caught and posted on a school website if anyone wanted it. So i decided to try and rescue the poor thing. So i took him home and had him in a seperate cage for the past 6 days. I decided to try and let him meet my other two boys. My two boys have been getting along fine, and when they first met there wasn't any big fighting or anything. Just some humping and such. So I took the boys all out of their cages and with my roomies tried to introduce them. My oldest boy wasn't too bad, he urinated on him and purred alot, but didn't chatter his teeth. When I added the third guy all hell broke loose! The two of them tried to hump him and wouldn't leave him alone. I didn't know how far i should let it go, so i seperated them. But when i put my older boys back in their cage, they went nuts!! tons of teeth chattering and nipping at each other! They have never done this to each other before! They have calmed down now, but is this normal? What should I do? I can find the new guy another home if i have to, but I really wanted to keep him myself! But I can't have my boys fighting like this?! What do i do??

Are you sure the newcomer is a boy?

Their aggression directs outwards to whoever is near. It's not a personal thing. Have you tried a buddy bath? How big is the cage you were going to put them all in? You can put a divider and keep the new one separate, but they'll have contact via the wall.

yup, i'm sure he's a boy...no didn't do a bath with these 3...but i didnt it when i got my second pig. maybe i'll try that. my cage is a 2x3 on top, and 2x3 on bottom..might add on to make it 2x4 on both...or add another level of 2x3, but not sure yet.

good for you! rescuing piggies feels so good huh? i rescued three out of the four piggies i have. anyway i had a small question:

why was the quarentine so short? should be a couple of weeks at least.

i know the quarentine was short, i guess i just got impatient and decided to give it a try. but i'm going to wait another week or two before i do it again.
