Among the other creatures we share our home with are 3 dogs. The "youngest" (by age) but the "oldest" (by average breed life span) is Murphy, an English Mastiff who is somewhere between 8 and 10 years of age (adult rescue, so that's a guess). Recently he developed a suspicious lump in his mouth, which, combined with his age and breed, had us very concerned. He had a vet appointment this morning, though, which set our minds at ease. The mouth lump is benign. His official diagnosis: Murphy is old. And lumpy. HUGE sigh of relief!

Oh good I'm glad it's only because of old age and that the lump is benign. Pets can cause so much worry.

Yup, my dog is pretty old and has a lot of lumps. We freaked out when she first started getting them but was told by the vet that it is normal.
